Just signed for us apparently. 35 year old striker from Chesterfield.

Probably just smoulders a bit these days, but welcome Will.

Weird thing is, we had a very experienced, quality striker, who we released at the end of last season, and is younger than Grigg.

Mr Doidge now a regular starter and integral part of the team for League 2 Newport...

Welcome and best wishes to Will regardless.

Helps balance out the youngsters - Will has an invaluable eye for goal, let’s hope it’s catching building on the replay’s 5 scorers.

Yup, three decent signings...perhaps an admission that a mixture of age and experience is the best route to success...I wonder who we will sign next week?

On the subject of players, does anyone know if Berry and Rijks, who we managed to break, are still at the club?

I don't love it's a 2 year deal but he adds a lot of experience and is a proven quantity at this level. Scored 24 for Chesterfield in their promotion campaign a few years back. Should also help mentor the other strikers, on paper this is a decent move.

Good signing not surprised with 2 year deal as his Chesterfield deal was until 2027 I am sure his experience will be of great benefit to our young strikers Welcome Will

Fingers crossed this works out. Experienced player is a good thing. He can teach the kids a thing or two.

The Tripods are certainly working hard to unravel RS average age policy with the latest three signings.

It seems they knew what we all knew but seemingly RS didn’t that we needed experience at left back, centre back and centre forward.

So far I’m impressed with Sass (other than his red card) and also McIntyre. Grigg is a strange one but given that Jose is apparently injured again and not really performing we needed someone who was available and fit. Clubs tend not to part with in/form strikers so we are relying on experience which he has in abundance.

The whole Doidge saga is a very strange. He looked fit and sharp at the start of the 24/25 season but SC only used him in half the games and usually as a sub. RS only used him 19 times. Given they both saw him every day in training  there must be something we don’t know - or they didn’t. He has only scored 2 in 11 for the Exiles but is currently out with a groin injury.

Ps Jan managed a triple RS Bingo call by thanking DV Asif & MB in the interview.
