It’s early days of course, but the signs aren’t good for this season. Isted, Moore-Taylor, Mendy, Whitwell, Knowles… those were the players that you felt could win you games. We’ve only really got McAllister now and he doesn’t seem at his best yet.

Rees can score goals but needs creativity and supply, both of which are lacking. Osude and Etaluku seem more like impact players but both are somewhat unpolished. I don’t really know what Patrick offers - certainly nothing today - thought he was our worst player.

Campbell desperately needs to be deployed in midfield so I’d risk one of the apparently unfancied CBs instead of wasting him there. Haughton and Clarke are luxury players and I don’t think you can start both as they don’t work hard enough off the ball to really boss a midfield.

Then there’s a whole host of mysteries. Ewing, Kelly, Berry, Agina…  I don’t think opponents look at those names on the team sheet and pay them much attention.

To win this league you need at least 3 or 4 players that are consistently operating at 8/10 or above, and we haven’t got anyone other than Macca that’s near that level, with most at 6/10 or less.

Agina it's a total waste of space. Don't get it at all.

Thought Clarke had a good game.

Haughton can be creative but does not put a shift in, trackback or even keep moving to make runs/space.

Keeper is no improvement. Distribution not great most of the time.

Sean didn't have the best game. Won a few corners simply due to taking too long to get a cross in. He was mostly at fault for the late goal. Hesitated, waiting for the ball and then let the Alty player drift past. Lack of experience tbh... Take a yellow for the team and take the player out.

Simply we are not good enough. Need more experienced players, and players that are better. We have a set piece coach and a director of football. You would not know it watching these first five games of the season.

Two things we are consistently good at so far
  1. Letting the opposition score first
  2. Shipping (on average) 2 goals per game

Well done you vent what's the point the players we have signed are poorerthan the ones that left.
Tactics are inept
Playing no strikers at home beyond stupid.
Too many aimless long balls to a non existent targetmanosude or teespointless.
Fragile at the back opened 4 x

Attacking no final ball no good chances created the goal wrgotwas given us.

Thankfully berry stays injured but his mate swing cost us the game giving the ball away for goal no 2

Conceding 2 goals a game is unacceptable, the set pieces are hopeless creating little upfront

The players worked hard today but we must accept they are not good enough.
606 Man is out of his depth ,he and the DoFwho recruited this lot need to be replaced
WEARE NOW IN A RELEGATION STRUGGLE SLEEP WALKING INTO NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH.

Billy Hunt is always very balanced when expressing his opinion. He isn't one to rock the boat. He said that things have 'regressed' since last season and there's 'no excuses' because this is RS's team.

Yes, the team gave 100% today but some aren't good enough and, as a unit, they're ineffective. Anyone who thinks otherwise and is still buying into the Savage hype is delusional. As is he by suggesting that fans are happy if the team gives everything. He can tell himself that, but some of us aren't dazzled by his hair, Strictly appearances or his name.

I'm wondering what Mr Maynard could do with this lot, but I guess we will never know. He is a proper manager. Not a celebrity or a youth team coach. Proper managers aren't welcome.

Again not there today, but reading the comments and judging by the results, all the positive aspects from the start of last season seem to have been lost.

The team selection, signings, playing style and general management all seem to be a bit of jumbled mess.

The overall positive vibe seems to be gone.

When I checked my phone earlier, I expected we would have lost or drawn at best, which turned out to be pretty accurate.

Then, when I looked at the starting side on here, I wasn't at all surprised we lost. However, I was very confused as to why there were no strikers in the team, especially for a home game where a win was much needed.

I have to say, I do find RS's squad and team selection very baffling.

I didn't have fun or excitement. The team are simply not good enough across so many positions. The management team are not good enough in any position. Nuff said as don't want to get abusive.

Osude up front felt like one last swing from a a manager totally out of ideas.

We have Ajayi on the bench, Pemberton and Kircough in the stands, and we finish the game with a back 4 of Etaluku (who was on a yellow,) Campbell, Mabete and Kengni. Clueless.

Patrick is a waste of space, I thought Ewing had a few nice touches but needs to be further forward. Clarke as a 6 just doesn’t do it for me.

Every game we are messing about with formations and players. RS just doesn’t have a clue.

Imagine having two players who have scored as many goals as Rees and Haughton at their previous clubs and getting one goal out of them in five games.

I don't see him walking unless it's into a well paid media job. I know he fears failure, but what does he really have to lose? The remit is 'fun' and apparently he's offering that at this stage of the '4 year project'.

I’ve no idea of contract arrangements but 606 should certainly go. The day job must come first, unless DV considers the additional publicity, both good and bad, is worth it?
A disappointing start to the season.

From Robbie after BW.....

"We've lost against a very good team who I think will be champions."....... honestly, RS, you only need a cursory knowledge of football to reach that conclusion!!!

"With two games coming up in quick succession two wins will give us 4 wins out 5."...... we lost on Friday, away, to a newly promoted team.!!!

"Monday is a MUST win game."...... agreed, but we LOST!!!

So to conclude, we have 2 wins, 3 losses, in 5 games.

We've once again gone through the summer turning over so many players to the huge amusement of other team's fans.

As fans, we accept that those inside with the laptops know more than us about an incoming player....only then for him to be either banished or moved on in short succession.

Bluntly, Stevie Wonder knows our defence is awful, and yet our well paid manager plays a mid as a CB.

Why buy CBs like Kircough and not play him?????

We're shipping goals to poor teams.

Our super duper strike force .... is firing blanks.

We have no structure, we have no style of play (apart from poorly).

It's a different team and different tactics every week with no logic seemingly to any decision.

Apparently, the data driven stats on the FGR laptop say we run a lot!! Great!!

The talk of us pushing for promotion in the summer, at the expense of our women and kid's teams is now an even bigger insult to those two groups. Frankly, it's embarrassing.

Genuinely, does anyone actually believe the utter nonsense that RS delivers in an interview now?

Are we having fun? In a word....NO!!

My first game this season and, while it was good to be back, it was a very frustrating afternoon. How I long for the days of us having a settled starting eleven with players who were committed to the club and had a relationship with the fans with many of them having their own songs. Not knocking the new lads but the whole club just feels dysfunctional and flat atm

We were the better team and should have put the game to bed after equalising but squandered a lot of promising opportunities and there was some really inept play in the final third

Two positives of the fan experience were having the away fans back in the North Stand and we were actually trusted to drink out of a can from the South Stand halftime bar rather than waiting for ages while everything is decanted into plastic glasses

Disappointing to say the least.

To say more, it was frustrating, exasperating even galling!

There was more commitment today, both on the pitch and from the stands, but we lost again.

The game was balanced, we certainly had our chances....but if we don't take them, the opposition is going to win.

No way it's a relegation struggle, but we are looking like a mid-table side at best.

THE Kyle was as good as ever, Campbell, Clark and Taff were solid '7' but others were '6' at best.

Thank goodness August is over; I believe  performances will improve, but unless a win comes soon all are going to be low on confidence.

Hornchurch have had a better than expected start, winning all their matches except away at Carlisle.

It will be another tough fixture....that's when the tough get going. Are we tough enough?
