Any guess why disciplinary issues are costly
Because of the fine involved?

My first trip to Brunton Park. Like stepping back in time but really good atmosphere and overall a good night out though the away fan experience was pretty poor with a few uncovered seats stuck on the terracing and pretty poor refreshments bar. That said the fan zone outside was excellent

As for the match we pretty much bossed it for an hour but two glaring mistakes gifted Linney his goals. We should have been ahead at the break but some absolutely unnecessary attempts at keep ball a minute before half time by our back line went disastrously wrong and Carlisle undeservedly had the lead.

We started the second half well grabbed an equaliser and were on top again until just after the hour mark when Mendy completely and again unnecessarily got caught out for his second yellow

We did well then to stay in the game until a few minutes before the end and as for the highly dubious penalty … well it was really all over by then anyway but it did look a really soft decision.

We need a good performance and hopefully a good result against Boreham Wood though quite what the starting eleven will be is anybody’s guess 🤷‍♂️

Temi Babalola added nothing to the FGR team and never looked like scoring, not sure why we signed him, was also poor on Monday playing for Worthing - hope I am proved wrong. Must get our forwards scoring otherwise we will slip down the table. Sending off changed course of game when we looked to have upper hand.
At last Bunker given a start and was best FGR player on the field, 2 goals in 2 matches, more to come!

Have to say that the referee spoilt the game. He was far too quick to hand yellow cards (to both sides) and a red was inevitable. Although Mendy’s second yellow was understandable his first wasn’t and the one given to Whitwell was bizarre.

We were in the game but didn’t help ourselves by giving the ball away too easily and with Linney on the pitch that is always going mean trouble.

Someone needs to explain the offside rule to Buyabou. Babalola did pretty well against some brutal defending but should probably have been replaced earlier.Bunker was surprisingly good.

Not a disaster but we were worth a point. I would rather we sit in the chasing group and play well at the end of the season as play-offs are the most likely outcome and our best chance of promotion. There are too many good sides chasing the auto promotion place and we are not quite at that level.
Not a surprise Bunker was good - he is completely underated

Been at work all day. Was trying to catch the scores when I could but stats online don’t tell a story. NL this year looks either very competitive or possibly weaker than last season it’s hard to judge.

We’ve gone with a rookie manager, lots of new players, but I am more connected than ever with the club,  multiple live TV games , more exciting football, connection with fans and media. We just need to remember we are FGR , it takes most a long time to get out of this league. I know most will want promotion and winning games but we’ve been spoilt from a club that nearly went bust. Budget or not, budget doesn’t win the league.

I saw Babalola’s debut a bit differently
Kicking towards us in the first half he was a real handful was a better target man than Doidge and Cardwell and also showed some good flick touches.
Faded as the game went on but on that showing a decent addition
Like all strikers he needs a goal asap

worthing to carlisle in 5 days in front of 9000 peeps is some journey on many levels .
meeting/socialising with 30 guys he does not know-mentally difficult and tiring .
simple things like being issued with the right training kit/travelling kit -all time consuming and something else to think about.
packing and unpacking suitcases in about 3 differewnt locations in 5 days -again-mentally and hence physically exhausting
probably got jet lag amongst other things

surprised RS started him this early in such a high profile game (augers well ) as his fitness/running stats must be well down.
will only have had two vegan meals and no spinach smoothies yet.

even if he was 'average' for 73 minutes -that would be good imo (if that makes sense ).

cast our minds back to a couple of the macclesfield boys in the first few games-we aint saying that now about them

I m not sure why we signed Temi Babalola - not a player in saw as being a good fit for FGR but just my opinion.

Haughton has been disappointing of late which is quite the turn around as in the first few weeks FGR fans thought he was the 2nd coming.

Too many careless passes tonight - that cost us, coupled with the sending off.

I do worry that our high energy game, high press will impact on our players more as the season goes on. Its a long old season, quite an ask and as Mark Hughes said in his post match interview they aren't premiership players.

Most of us crowed the form in 2nd half of last season..I wouldnt be surprised if similar happened again this season.

Budget doesn't win the league, but it helps. Carlisle signed Conn-Clarke. We signed some random from a league below to lead the line.

Looking back a match that was entirely decided by the officials sadly.  At 2-2 in the second half we were comfortable and looked far the more likely to score again.  Then the red card happened. Whilst Mendy’s second yellow was merited the first certainly wasn’t.  The early flurry of yellow cards against them was never going to help us as the referee was always going to equalise things out and was itching to send someone off.  Their foul ratio in the first half was ridiculous yet we finished with 10.  Conn-Clarke was hardly spectacular spending much of the game on the floor.

A superb game of football, another great advert for the National League: it's tough at the top this year and 3UP is SO overdue. So hard to predict who will win promotion, but I'm certain we will be in the mix.

The atmosphere was terrific, outside and inside, fans sensing a feast of football between two very capable teams. There have been some overdue ground improvements and money pumped into the squad, but the admirable band of FGR fans didn't have a great view. Well done the 124, especially those in the seats who can't have had good visibility. You roared us on and were rightly thanked by manager and players.

Lots of quality in our play; vision, skill and electric pace. Many moves were eye-catching. No surprise Robbie called their performance 'magnificent' and a director assured me we were the best team that had been at Brunton Park this season. Praise especially to Bunker, Clarke and Whitwell, but all should come away with the feeling they performed well.

BUT we lost! 😩

Frustrating and very unhelpful for our quest to win the league: we have to do better against the top teams and ensure we definitely win against those towards the bottom.

Last night the main reason for losing was our errors and Carlisle's ability to capitalise on them. I won't name the players but it was misplaced passes, failure to hold the ball up and silly challenges. All are forgiven, such mistakes won't usually be so costly, so forget them.

Sadly they will feel guilty and it will bother them....just like Gerrard has never forgotten his slip, Zidane his head butt, Beckham his petulant kick, Southgate his penalty miss and Thierry Henry’s hand ball. Yes ALL players make mistakes, no matter how talented!!!

We must look forward and play that well again against Boreham Wood. That is our focus! Yes ideally we beat Leicester and go into the knockout stage of the Mickey Mouse Cup. Yes we would love to beat Luton and have an FAC run. But BW is a match where we need to be at our best, confident in our ability and all up for a win at the New Lawn.

Keep the belief everyone

We were the better team for an hour but silly mistakes cost us, not to mention superior finishing.

Given who was available, Inniss and JMT had to start yesterday, the idea of Mendy has a centre half never filled me with confidence.

If someone could teach Jili the offside rule before Boreham Wood, that would be great. Totally unnecessary to be offside that often when he’s that quick.

Given the lack of training and the game he was thrown into, I thought Babalola did OK, competed some nice lay offs, won clever fouls when he needed to.

Given the importance of the game, I’m not sure that a midfield with Bunker making his first start of the season and two youngsters with barely 20 senior games between them was the best decision.

From my maths, we are 4 points worse off than we were after 15 games last season, having lost the same amount of games. Make of that what you will.
