Next Saturday, Forest Green are back at the New Lawn Stadium where our opponents will be Boreham Wood.

The Wood were last season's losing play-off finalists; only a penalty shoot-out away from the Football League. This after beating us in the play-off quarter finals.

They are amongst the favourites for promotion again this season, with 33 out of the 50 entrants in @Pitchfork's League Position competition having them in their top 3.

Boreham Wood have opened this season with a home 3--3 draw against Tamworth; a game they would have won were it not for an equalising penalty in the 12th minute of added time. The game featured a hat-trick for Matt Rush. Last Saturday, they won 3--1 away at our match day 1 opponents, Halifax Town. Rush only managed 2 goals in this game. It is a wonder that Rush, with 33 goals last season, hasn't been snapped up by a Football League club. Their other scorer against Halifax was Abdul Abdulmalik, who is reportedly subject to a £1m bid from a Swedish club. Let's hope both transfers go through this week!

I hope I'm not tempting fate by pointing this out, but on their 3 previous visits to the New Lawn, Boreham Wood have not won a point. Giving their current form, another Rovers' win is likely to be hard fought. Let's hope Mr Savage can sort out his line-up from minute 1, and not wait for the subs after half time when we are already a goal behind.

This will be the second of the "Kids go Free in August" matches. See you there!

I hope the our Manager takes note of Boreham Wood's player Matt Rush. He has scored all 5 goals for them so far this season, suggest putting a defender in his pocket at all times.
