Delighted to see Babalola get his goals today, even if he could have had a couple more. I was guilty of judging him too quickly when the truth is players often need some time to settle in a new team, especially when stepping up the leagues. I do agree his touch and control has been lacking, but he takes up good positions, works hard, and will always be a physical threat.

 

The best recruiters (e.g. Brighton, Brentford, Dortmund) often take whole seasons to bed in new players and understand that output over their first 10 games or so has very little bearing on a player’s ultimate value.

 

Babalola may still turn out to be a flop, or may become the long awaited 20-goal a season striker. Most likely… somewhere in between. Here’s to patience, and finding out.

That was a very strange performance. A few superb moves mixed up with a lot of very poor quality. Kept giving the ball away and losing out in 1 on 1s. Still, scored 4 and up to third.

 

Will be very interesting to hear Robbie's take on that.
